Maruti Swift on Rent in Chandigarh
If you enjoy driving, the Maruti Swift is the small car to book. Under the bonnet is a 1.2-litre petrol engine, matched to a manual gearbox, and the five-seat body is light enough to feel lively with three or four people inside. Take a Swift on rent in Chandigarh for a Kasauli day out, a Chail weekend or a few days of running around the Tricity with friends. It pulls keenly in the lower gears and changes direction quickly on a twisty hill road.
It works best for two to four people with weekend bags. The back seat and boot are on the small side, so a family flying in with big suitcases will be happier in the Maruti Dzire, the sedan built on the Swift with a proper boot. If five of you are heading for Manali, go for the Hyundai Creta AT: more space, more pull on long climbs and no clutch to work in the Parwanoo crawl.

Good Drives for a Swift From Chandigarh
Kasauli and Dagshai (about 60 km)
We suggest a Swift for Kasauli to most couples. Leave before 7 on a Saturday to beat the Parwanoo queue, turn off at Dharampur and enjoy the bends. The 120 km or so there and back is an easy single day.
Chail via Kandaghat (about 110 km)
Twistier and quieter than the Shimla road, with long stretches through deodar and pine, and great fun in a light hatchback. At about 220 km return, book two days and spend the night up there rather than coming down in the dark.
Shimla (about 115 km)
Easy on the highway and nimble on narrow hotel approach roads. Park at your hotel or a paid lot and walk the Mall, because driving through central Shimla is slow and parking is scarce. Book two days and you won't feel rushed.
Weekend evenings around the Tricity
Dinner on Madhya Marg, a late coffee in Mohali, dropping friends home in Panchkula. A self drive Swift in Chandigarh for the weekend means nobody waits for a cab, and it's short enough to park outside busy restaurants without circling the block.
Driving the Maruti Swift: What to Expect
Quick off the lights at Transport Chowk and keen to turn into a corner, the Swift feels eager in Chandigarh. The steering is light enough to make a three-point turn in a Sector 8 lane easy, and the car is short enough to park nose-in almost anywhere. On the highway to Parwanoo it cruises without strain, and once the road starts climbing it's the most enjoyable of our hatchbacks, provided you keep it in the right gear instead of lugging it in fourth.
On a steady run the Swift returns around 23 km/l, less on climbs or in heavy traffic. The rear seat suits two adults; a third gets tight on anything longer than the drive to Pinjore. Pack soft weekend bags rather than hard suitcases, because two hard cases are about all the boot will take. Tip for the hills: coming down from Kasauli, hold third or second gear rather than leaning on the brakes for the whole descent.

Maruti Swift Rental FAQs
The Maruti Swift is ₹1,800 per day on self drive, with 200 km included each day. Weekly rent is ₹10,800. Monthly rent is ₹43,200. Extra kilometres are ₹10–15 per km, fuel is not included, and a refundable security deposit of ₹5,500 is taken before handover.
For two people, yes; for four adults with luggage, it's a stretch. The Manali round trip runs to about 600 km, so plan on three days at least. The Swift is happy on the highway, but long climbs beyond Mandi with a full car mean constant gear changes. Groups of four or five will be happier with the Hyundai Creta AT.
Book the Swift if you're two to four people travelling light and want the more enjoyable drive. Book the Maruti Dzire if luggage matters: it's the sedan version of the Swift, just as light on fuel at about 23 km/l in our fleet listing, with a much bigger boot. For an airport pickup with suitcases or a family wedding trip, the Dzire is the practical choice.
The Baleno is roomier; the Swift is more fun. The Baleno's rear seat and boot are noticeably bigger, which suits families and long plains drives. The Swift is shorter and lighter, so it feels quicker on hill roads and is easier to park. For a couple's Kasauli weekend take the Swift, and for four adults going to Ludhiana, the Maruti Baleno.
Yes, if the bags are soft. When four friends rent a Swift in Chandigarh, everyone sits well enough for a two-hour drive, and four duffels or backpacks fit in the back with a bit of stacking. Four hard-shell suitcases won't, and squeezing in a fifth person makes any trip beyond the Tricity uncomfortable. Pack light and it works.
Less than most manual cars. The clutch action is easy and the engine has useful pull at low revs, which makes crawling uphill behind trucks near Parwanoo manageable. On steep hairpins with a full car, drop to first rather than slipping the clutch. If clutch work on hill roads isn't for you, book the automatic Hyundai Venue AT.
A valid driving licence held for at least one year, plus government photo identification such as Aadhaar or a passport. Both must be produced in original at handover. International visitors need a passport and an international driving permit.
